Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
